It’s the most wonderful time of the year! …or something like that. I actually really enjoy the holidays and love gathering with my favorite people around a delicious meal. Bonus: Christmas cookies! I participated in my first Christmas cookie exchange last year and absolutely loved getting to share some of my favorite healthy christmas cookies with our friends. I really loved baking cookies for my friends and gathering to celebrate as a group. What can I say?! I’m a Jew who loves Christmas!
Whether you’re getting together with friends and family for a baking day ahead of the holidays or just want to know how to store your healthy Christmas cookies, I wanted to pass along a tip that I found to be helpful during what can be a hectic time of year. You can 100% make your cookies ahead of time. I recommend two ways of making your cookies in advance:
Over the years I’ve baked my fair-share of healthy Christmas cookies and have learned that keeping them healthy does not mean they can’t be delicious. Here are 10 of my favorite healthy Christmas cookies from THM and around the web:
Healthy Peppermint Chocolate Cookies – These cookies are grain-free, paleo and made in one-bowl. They’re not short on delicious, sweet flavor though and are perfect for your next holiday get-together or cookie bake-off!
Ginger Molasses Cookies –Healthier ginger molasses cookies, made with unrefined coconut sugar, light on the butter and a zesty spice mix. Sub gluten-free flour for a gluten-free alternative or keep regular for an equally delicious cookie recipe.
Double Chocolate Cookies – These cookies are grain-free, made with just 6 ingredients and ready in 20 minutes. They’re the healthy cookies you always dreamed of that taste far more decadent than they seem!
Grain-Free Chocolate Cranberry Cookies– Made with just 6 simple ingredients, these healthy chocolate cookies with dried cranberries are grain-free and will totally hit the spot!
Gluten-Free Shortbread Cookies – Gluten-Free Shortbread Cookies that the whole family can enjoy including those with gluten allergies and intolerances. The ultimate Christmas cookie without the gluten.
Healthy Chocolate Turtles – Peanuts, caramel made out of dates and a chocolate coating? You better believe it. These whip up in no time at all and are ridiculously delicious.
Paleo Peppermint Chocolate Crinkle Cookies – Are you a mint chocolate lover? These grain-free cookies were made for you!
Raspberry Thumbprint Cookies – Lighten up your holiday season with these spectacular soft raspberry thumbprint cookies. They’re grain-free and made with a delicious homemade raspberry filling.
Gluten-Free Almond Biscotti – For some reason I hadn’t tried good biscotti until I was an adult and now I’m obsessed. This recipe looks delicious!
Sea Salt Nutella Thumbprint Cookies – Sea salt + nutella? Sold! Lexi has a recipe for homemade nutella but if that’s not your jam, you can use plain ol’ chocolate.
Most importantly: enjoy the company! Cookies are great and all, but the holidays are just about food. Also don’t stress too much about “overeating” or “cheat meals”. Just enjoy the damn cookie (or 3!).
